Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional care for dry eye. All of our optometrists have undergone specialised training and have extensive experience diagnosing and treating dry eye, so you will receive personalised, effective solutions.

By continually updating our skills and investing in advanced technology, you can benefit from the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments.

Plus, with independent prescribing optometrists on board, you’ll receive comprehensive care, including access to therapeutic medications.

How We Diagnose Dry Eye

Concerned that you have dry eye? Then take your pick from our range of
diagnostic packages designed to meet your individual needs:

Dry Eye Consult (Basic)

This includes a traditional evaluation of your eyes with a dry eye specialist.

You will also undergo assessments to measure how long it takes your tear film to break up, your blink pattern and the quality of your tear film.

Based on these findings, and without further diagnostic evidence, your specialist can advise on a personalised treatment plan.

Diagnostic Essentials

In addition to the benefits of our dry eye consult, you will also receive a complete suite of advanced tests for a more precise diagnosis, including:

  • Meibography
  • Corneal topography
  • ScoutPro tear osmolarity testing
  • InflammaDry
  • Non invasive tear break up time, and much more.

Diagnostic Plus

In addition to the benefits of our diagnostic essentials package, you will get the added benefit of a starter pack of treatments to prepare your eyelids for your at-home or in-practice dry eye management.

This includes treatment with our Activa heat and therapy machine, meibomian gland expression (MGE) to clear blockages disrupting your tear film and eyelid exfoliation treatment with tea tree oil (TTO) to reduce inflammation.

Diagnostic Comprehensive

Our most advanced package includes everything from our diagnostic plus package, with a key upgrade: instead of tea tree oil (TTO) lid cleansing, you will receive the latest ZEST (Zocular Eyelid System Technology) treatment.

ZEST reduces eye and eyelid inflammation while restoring optimal eyelid hygiene. If you have significant dry eye symptoms, this treatment may provide immediate relief on your journey to improved eye health.

Diagnostic Tests

Want to know more about our advanced diagnostic tests for dry eye?
Then read on.

Tear osmolarity (via ScoutPro technology)

This measures the concentration of salts in your tears, helping us assess the severity of your dry eye disease.

HD slit lamp
photography

This provides high-resolution images of the anterior (front) part of your eye to identify potential issues.

Meibography

This uses specialised imaging to visualise the meibomian glands in your eyelids, which produce the oily part of your tear film, and helps assess their function and detect blockages or damage.

Non-invasive tear break-up time

This assesses the stability of your tear film by measuring the time it takes for your tear film to break apart.

Corneal topography (mapping)

This creates a detailed map of the front surface of your eye (cornea) to evaluate any irregularities that may affect the stability of your tear film.

Blink rate
measurements

This monitors how often you blink, which can affect the distribution and evaporation of your tear film.

Tear meniscus
height (TMH)

This measures the height of your tear meniscus, that is, your tear film at the upper and lower edges of your eyelids. The tear meniscus comprises 75–90% of the total volume of your tear film. Consequently, TMH is a measure of how much tear volume is available to lubricate your eyes.

InflammaDry

This detects inflammatory markers in your tears, helping to identify underlying inflammation that may contribute to dry eye symptoms.
