Our Initial Diagnostic Appointments: Your First Step to Better Eye Health
At our clinic, we begin every patient’s journey with an initial diagnostic appointment to accurately assess their eye health and provide a foundation for personalised care. These appointments allow us to evaluate critical aspects of your eye health through advanced imaging, tests, and targeted treatments. Whether you’re experiencing general eye issues or have more complex concerns, our diagnostic appointments will help us understand your specific needs and develop an effective, tailored treatment plan.
We offer four types of initial diagnostic appointments, each with unique features to address different health requirements. Below is an outline of each option to guide you toward the best choice for your eye care.
1. Basic Dry Eye Consultation - Priced at £115, this appointment includes:
- Anterior eye photos/videos using a slit lamp examination.
- A traditional review of tear break-up time, blink rate, and tear meniscus/quantity.
2. Dry Eye Diagnostic Appointment - Costing £350 (with a saving of £45), it features:
- This diagnostic appointment enables your dry eye specialist optometrist to pick and choose any number of our extensive diagnostic tools to get to the root cause of your symptoms in one appointment.
- This includes conducting tests like meibography, corneal topography, ScoutPro tear osmolarity testing and Inflammadry for detecting inflammatory markers.
- All of this in addition to conducting the traditional methods of assessing the front of the eyes.
3. Diagnostics Plus - Available for £325 (saving £120), this appointment includes:
- All features of the Diagnostics Essentials plus a starter pack of treatments for the lids to get them ready for at home or in practice dry eye treatment success.
- This appointment includes us of our Activa heat and therapy machine followed by meibomian gland expression (MGE), as well as lid exfoliation with tea tree oil (TTO) treatment.
3. Dry Eye Diagnostic and Treatment Appointment - The most extensive at £425 (saving £195), comprising:
- Our comprehensive Dry Eye Diagnostic Appointment includes the added benefit of same-day treatment, helping you begin your journey towards more comfortable eyes from day one.
- This appointment includes 15 minutes in our dedicated dry eye suite using the professional ACTIVA device, followed by dekeratinisation of the eyelid margins and meibomian gland expression to improve gland function and relieve symptoms.
- For a significantly discounted additional fee of £100 (usually £250), you can also choose to add our ZEST anti-inflammatory treatment to further enhance your results.
- Patients with significant symptoms often feel instant results. This is a great way to start a successful dry eye management program.
Please allow approximately 2–2.5 hours for your appointment in total, including parking and arrival time.
At Dry Eye Wales, we believe dry eye care should be tailored to the individual, not delivered through a standardised approach. During your appointment, our specialist dry eye optometrist will carefully select the most appropriate diagnostic tests and treatments for you based on your symptoms, lifestyle, medical history, triage information, and the findings from your clinical examination. This means you may not require every investigation or treatment listed below. Instead, your assessment is customised specifically to your eyes and your individual needs. The information below is provided to demonstrate the extensive range of advanced diagnostics and treatment technologies available within our clinic, allowing us to deliver truly personalised dry eye care.
